Loftus is a small village on the east coast of Yorkshire, 14 miles north of Whitby. Terraced houses, old stone cottages, and a few grand stone houses make up the original alum mining village. There are numerous shops, restaurants, pubs, banks, and a beautiful town hall on the main street. A great swimming pool is located behind the main street, in a recreation centre. Staithes, a popular destination for artists, is just a short drive away from Loftus in North Yorkshire. Saltburn, a spa town with a long pier and a golf course, is just four miles away to the north. Within easy reach are the breathtaking North Yorkshire Moors and the Jurassic fossil coast.
