The Grand Terrace offers a unique and spacious stay in a beautiful historic building with stunning sea views and an unbeatable location close to shops, cafes, and transport links. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, private parking, and the characterful atmosphere. While the apartment is generally comfortable and well-suited for relaxing breaks, several guests note that it would benefit from a deep clean and some maintenance, particularly regarding cleanliness, window coverings, and furniture comfort. The property’s charm and location are consistently praised, making it a popular choice for repeat visitors.
Several guests mention that the apartment is not as clean as expected, with issues such as dust, crumbs, sticky surfaces, and previous guests' hair. Some areas, like the kitchen and bedrooms, are highlighted as needing a deep clean. However, a few reviews do note that the property was clean on arrival. The overall impression is that cleanliness is average and could be improved.
The location is repeatedly praised for its convenience to local amenities, beautiful sea views, proximity to the train station, and easy access to shops, cafes, and the beach. Guests consistently highlight the setting as a major positive.
Guests enjoy the spaciousness, high ceilings, and cosy atmosphere, but several mention uncomfortable sofas and beds, draughty bedrooms, and issues with curtains not blocking out light. While some find the beds comfortable, others cut their stay short due to discomfort. Comfort is therefore mixed, with room for improvement.
The apartment is well-equipped with kitchenware, entertainment options, and private parking. However, guests note maintenance issues such as broken curtain tracks, sagging floors, and dated or mismatched furniture. Some facilities, like the terrace and outside area, are underutilised due to upkeep. Overall, facilities are good but require attention.
Guests appreciate thoughtful touches such as a well-stocked kitchen, a library, and DVDs about the building’s history. However, there is no mention of gifts, and while these touches are valued, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

We feel that almost everything about this apartment is wonderful! It’s on the ground floor, so is great for people with limited mobility. It has its own parking space, so no worries about venturing out and not having anywhere to park when you return. It is situated right next to the train station and tickets are so cheap, you can get direct to Redcar, Middlesbrough or Darlington for only a few pounds. Although huge, the apartment feels really warm and cozy, the beds are super comfy and the kitchen is well equipped. Our two main issues are, the curtains in the bedrooms don’t close or block out the light properly and the sofas are REALLY REALLY uncomfortable (we improvised by placing folding up duvets on them and sat on top of those)! That said, we do love staying here and have already booked again for next year, if those issues were sorted by then that would make it PERFECT for us. (The guest book points the same issues out multiple times from multiple visitors, there is little point in asking for feedback if it is not going to be acted on)!

The grand terrace is a lovely apartment and very well equipped However a few things need attention A set of curtains in the lounge need new draw string as they were brokenThe bed settee in the lounge is painful to sit on as the springs can be feltThe curtains in both bedrooms need either lining or a blind as well as the street light shines through during the nightBoth beds need replacing or at least new mattresses and toppers replacing they were so uncomfortable we cut our stay shortIf these few things were rectified it would be a fabulous apartment and worth the money we paid
