Guests have had a relaxing stay, appreciating the property's cleanliness, amenities, and the owner's responsiveness. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience was very positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Most guests found the cottage clean and comfortable. However, there were instances of overlooked areas, such as behind the bathroom bin and under the coffee table, which suggest room for improvement in thoroughness.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach and scenic views, making it an ideal spot for guests and their pets. The convenience for exploring North Yorkshire and the local friendliness add to the appeal.
Guests have reported the cottage to be warm, cosy, and equipped with a comfortable sleeping arrangement. The presence of a large bathroom and a secure courtyard for dogs also contributed to the comfort level.
The cottage is well-equipped and provides for guests' needs. However, some guests noted maintenance issues such as flaking paint and loose fittings, indicating that some attention to detail is required.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

The village of Skinningrove is undiscovered by most tourists, and is peaceful all year round. It is a quaint little bay, with neighbouring Cattersty Sands just a short walk away. This is a perfect choice for those looking for a tranquil beach holiday away from the crowds. The village is mostly inhabited by locals, with a little café, pub as well as a fish and chip shop.
There is lots to see and do for the whole family in the area, and this is also a wonderful choice as a romantic getaway for couples. Your dog is welcome to join you, and will be in heaven with the fabulous walks you can enjoy together.
For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover, either on foot along the Cleveland Way or by car. Saltburn is a surfer’s paradise and has an iconic pier and some trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with little fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll taking in the fresh sea breeze, and Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away. This seafaring town has a fascinating history, with the abbey overlooking the cobbled streets, independent shops and quirky cafés. Visit the museums, ride a boat out of the harbour or simply take in the sights and enjoy award-winning locally caught fish and chips.
The North York Moors National Park is also on the doorstep, with ancient forests, miles of heather-clad hills and valleys, and lovely villages and walking trails. The many local events include Staithes’ art festival, Saltburn’s food festival, and Whitby’s regatta as well as the famous Goth Weekend. The big event on Skinningrove’s calendar is Bonfire Night in November, when residents build a huge wooden sculpture on the seafront, with a different theme each year, which is set alight after a spectacular firework show. You can have front row seats at Seascape from the bedroom window!
Each season has its highlights, from impressive waves crashing on the beach in winter, spring wild flowers on woodland walks with lambs frolicking across the National Park, glorious sunny summer days on the beach, or purple moorland as the heather bursts into bloom, then taking in the autumnal colours before warming up beside a crackling fire in a choice of cosy country pubs. A beautiful destination all year round. Beach 50 yards. Shop 1¾ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

We had a fabulous time staying at Seascape . Having the beach on our doorstep was brilliant, we and our dogs loved our walks on it. The cottage itself was cosy, comfortable and clean with everything we needed and more & the owner was very responsive and dealt with a small issue we had very promptly . It’s in an ideal place to visit places in North Yorkshire , we visited Saltburn on Sea enjoying the old Victorian seafront and large beach, Staithes, Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay and also trips onto the moors for walks and visiting Goathland which was gorgeous in the snow . We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again .

An excellent location and a lovely cottage, but could do with a bit of TLC - flaking paint, missing carpet strips., cracks on the wall, loose beading in the kitchen. On entry the cottage looked clean, but there was urine on the back of the toilet and dirty behind the bathroom bin and on the skirting boards. The lounge floor was gritty underfoot and found crisps under the coffee table, cola bottle sweets at the side of the sofa. The dishwasher hadn't been emptied. The mugs had stains which needed to be cleaned before use as did some of the other utensils. There were stains on top of the kitchen drawers as though something had been spilled and not wiped up. The smoke alarm had been taken down and left on the stairs window sill. However disappointing to find this it didn't stop us having a very relaxing stay. Just to add the bathroom floor does slope.

The location of Seascape is amazing with wonderful views out to sea. Fantastic for walking the dog on the beach and we were thrilled to spot a dolphin. Cottage was warm and comfortable, had everything we needed, and we slept well. Lovely large bathroom, although there is a step down into it. The owners are very responsive if anything needs sorting out. The locals are very friendly. We hope to return soon.
