Guests say

Blackgill Lodge is a charming and cosy cottage praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and welcoming host. Guests consistently highlight the well-equipped interior, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful touches that make for a relaxing getaway. The location is ideal for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and moors, though the rural track leading to the property is occasionally mentioned as bumpy. Most guests found the cottage clean and inviting, with only rare exceptions. Overall, it is highly recommended for couples or small groups seeking tranquillity and a home-from-home experience.

The majority of guests found the cottage clean, tidy, and well-presented, with only one review mentioning issues with pet hair and a need for a deeper clean. This isolated comment is outweighed by consistently positive feedback.

The location is frequently praised for its breathtaking views, peacefulness, and proximity to local attractions like Whitby and Staithes. The only minor drawback noted is the bumpy rural track, but this did not significantly detract from guests' enjoyment.

Guests repeatedly describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and a true home-from-home. The bed, lounge, and overall atmosphere receive high marks, with only very minor comments about ambient lighting.

The cottage is described as very well equipped, with everything needed for a pleasant stay, including a powerful shower, well-stocked kitchen, and thoughtful extras like books and Sky TV. A few guests noted the property is a little more 'lived-in' than photos suggest, but this did not impact their enjoyment.

Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome baskets, treats for both humans and dogs, and helpful local information. While these gestures are frequently noted, it should be politely stated that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We just spent Friday to Monday at the cottage and loved every second. The views from the balcony and garden are beautiful and the peace and quiet was idealic. All we could hear were the birds and even with the shared garden below the balcony, with the privacy screen at the bottom it felt completely private. The cottage itself is so cute and has everything you could need. The shower is powerful, the bed comfy, the kitchen well equipped. The inclusion of the coffee machine was greatly appreciated! We loved all of the books and recommendations from other guests in the cottage as well. The owner was lovely and her dogs were so so sweet. We're already looking at booking again for next year.

Lovely cottage with fabulous views. Very peaceful and excellent welcome pack. Property a little more tired than photos show but arty and quirky and lovely friendly owner next door. Would have loved to make more of the garden and outdoor space but weather disappointing… that’s England for you!
