Originally an old fishing village, today it has a selection of local shops and pubs, which cater for all the family, plus the safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes and fishing boats are an enticing attraction. Places of interest nearby include Captain Cook's birthplace, the mining museum, and the Zetland Lifeboat Museum. Within easy reach of this quaint village is a horse riding centre, the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, through which runs a steam railway line, and the numerous pretty inland villages and fishing villages including Staithes and Runswick Bay. We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great - only a short walk to the beach at Marske and you can join the coastal footpath to head off to Saltburn and beyond. It was great to use the bus to get to Whitby - an amazing coastal route, and we also used the train to get to the city centre in Middlesbrough. Bus stop, railway station and food shops are very nearby. Thank you for a great stay.

The property was exactly as advertised, very clean and tidy, and very comprehensive kitchen equipment which pleased the chef in our group.Convenient for pubs and local shopping, the pies from the butcher down the road are to be recommended. Close to magnificent beaches too. We would have no hesitation in recommending No 76 to others - we may even come again. Ann and John

Only only small gripe, the smell in the hallwayâ¦cats pee ! Only assuming one got in prior to our visit. The car park space was very tight to manoeuvre, good job I only drive a Mini. But it is what it is, expect someone with a long car would struggle is adjacent spot has a car in it, which it did during our stay, that didnât move.
