Guests say

Tarn House in Wooler is a spacious and comfortable property with a large enclosed garden, ideal for pets. Guests appreciate the friendly local community, easy access to town amenities, and the property's suitability as a base for exploring Northumberland. The house's warmth and views are notable positives, while some minor maintenance issues are mentioned.

The property is generally clean, but there are comments about crumbs in the toaster and unwashed oven trays. One guest found leftover food in the freezer and cupboard, and another found children's clothes in a drawer.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local shops, pubs, and the town centre, as well as being a great base for exploring the surrounding areas of Northumberland.

Guests find the house comfortable, with cosy sofas and chairs. The spaciousness and warmth of the house contribute to its comfort, although some furniture is noted as showing wear.

Facilities are adequate, with a well-received garden and washing machine. However, there are remarks about the lack of a bathroom fan, a sticky bathroom door, and the need for better kitchen equipment and bin bags.

A welcome pack with wine, milk, and biscuits is mentioned, which guests found delightful. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this is a thoughtful touch rather than a standard provision.

Tarn House is a lovely stone built house with a large enclosed garden for your 4 legged family members. Some of the furniture although in line with the age of the house has seen better days, a new coffee table for the living room and even a tablecloth for the dining room table would have been an improvement. Sofas and chairs in the living room and dining room were extremely comfortable. House was very easy to heat and didn’t take long. Kitchen was fine but more than one black bag for the bin would have been helpful. Had to clean out toaster as was full of crumbs and the oven baking trays weren’t up to much and didn’t look as if last guests had washed them so we used tinfoil we bought locally to cover them. Was surprised to find food in the freezer and cupboard from past guests as well. A bread bin and a kitchen roll holder with a kitchen roll supplied would have been nice. Downstairs toilet with washing machine was a great addition for anyone needing to use it. Upstairs bathroom was a good size apart from having to put your shoulder to the door to get it open and having the strength to pull it open from the inside. Shower tray sealant was dirty and needing replaced also surprised that there was no fan in the bathroom or in the kitchen. Maybe it’s just Scotland that makes it a law for these to be installed. My husband used the wardrobe and drawers in the front bedroom and found a drawer full of children’s clothes that had been left behind. Local pubs were good and we had a lovely meal in Lady Mucks and I suggest if you buy your tea from Fry Fry the local chipper don’t buy 2 suppers as the amount of chips would feed 2 or 3 people. We also used the local Good Life store and the Co Op for bits and pieces. Purchased some gloves from a lovely little shop and round from the CoOp was a little shop where I bought fruit, dog treats, house plants, local made jam and marmalade and bread. Everywhere we went everyone was extremely friendly and always spoke when they passed you. Would definitely visit the area again.
