St Cuthbert's Retreat in Wooler is a charming and quirky cottage, praised for its central location, welcoming hosts, and delightful garden. Guests consistently highlight the property’s cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped nature, with many appreciating the thoughtful welcome packs and dog-friendly touches. The cottage’s unique layout and character add to its appeal, and the proximity to local shops, cafes, and beautiful countryside is a major plus. While some mention minor issues such as street noise at pub closing time, steep stairs, and firm beds, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended holiday spot.

Multiple reviews describe the cottage as clean, tidy, and well-maintained. No significant complaints about cleanliness were noted, and guests consistently felt comfortable with the standard of housekeeping.

The location is frequently praised for its central position in Wooler, close to amenities, shops, and beautiful countryside. While a few guests noted some street noise at night, the convenience and access to local attractions far outweighed this minor drawback.

Guests found the cottage cosy, warm, and comfortable, with particular mention of the beds and sofas. A few noted the beds were a little firm and mentioned steep stairs, but overall comfort levels were very high.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, with all essentials provided for a pleasant stay. Some guests mentioned limited kitchen space and the need for a few more basics, but these were minor points. The garden and bathrooms were especially appreciated, though some maintenance was suggested for the decking.

Guests frequently mention generous welcome packs, homemade treats, and thoughtful touches for both people and pets. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

My partner, Elizabeth, myself and border collie Jess had a lovely stay at St. Cuthbert's Retreat. The central position of the cottage in Northumbria, enabled us to visit inland places of interest, and all our coastal favourites. The amenities within the cottage, the brilliant welcome pack, and approachability of the hosts, made our stay one of the best we have experienced. We will return. Gareth.

Very relaxing week in Wooler with comfortable accomodation and exceptional private outdoor garden space. The property is adjacent to the owners house so they were nearby should you need help but very discreet. The photographs undersell the property in our opinion. The double bedroom to the front is very spacious and the quieter bedroom with twin beds is cosy. The kitchen space is sunny and airy and is adequately equipped if you don't want to cook much. There are plenty of eating spots nearby and good shops. The 'good life' shop has delicious bread, cheese, spices and other tempting items. Parking is straightforward and we were there on a bank holiday! We will return to St Cuthbert's retreat in future.
