Rothbury is known as the capital of Coquetdale and sits next to the River Coquet and the Simonside Hills.  There are many walks in Upper Coquetdale, the Cheviot Hills and along Hadrian’s Wall, and is ideally located for exploring many picturesque villages.  There is easy access to Kielder Forest Park and the Northumberland Heritage Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 

Alnwick is just 12 miles away and famous for its castle which was used in some scenes for Harry Potter.  The cafés in the small town are popular with cyclists and walkers and there are gentle walks along the riverside for the less energetic.  The Sandstone Way will appeal to mountain bikers of all a. . .
