The Duck House is an excellent place to stay. It is very comfortable, and has a superb view over the valley. The chickens and guinea fowl wandering the grounds give it an extra charm! The location is perfect for visiting Vindolanda, the Roman Army Museum, and the surrounding countryside and towns, including Hexham. It is also an easy train ride if you want to visit Newcastle. We had an excellent time here.

We would thoroughly recommend The Duck House for a relaxing break away. It is exceptionally well equipped and beautifully decorated throughout, with high-spec furnishings that make it feel both luxurious and comfortable.A special thank you to Julia and Robin for the generous welcome pack — the Prosecco on ice and the delicious homemade fresh cream sponge cake were such thoughtful touches and made our arrival even more special. The views from the cottage are absolutely stunning, providing the perfect setting to unwind. It was a particularly welcome retreat for my parents, especially as my mum had just come out of hospital — it offered a peaceful and restorative place for her to recuperate. There are also some fantastic walks nearby, including at The Sill and along Hadrian’s Wall, which made our stay even more enjoyable.A definite 5-star property. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!
