We stayed in the Alder Spa Lodge with hot tub, sauna & steam room over Christmas. We really enjoyed our stay. The cleanliness of the lodge and lovely decor were great - the Christmas decorations were a really nice touch and the lodge is very spacious. The hot tub & sauna are fantastic and the site itself is well kept. The kitchen is a perfect size for cooking meals and there were plenty of utensils. The beds were incredibly comfy! I loved that both bedrooms had access to separate bathrooms. The views from the lodge are stunning, you can see sheep grazing in the field. We used the small pool & spa facilities (included in your stay) on Christmas Eve and were so impressed. We walked in to Hexham one morning and it took around 45 minutes, then we got the bus back which stopped right outside of the site. We booked massages from a lovely lady at Total Beauty Hexham, she worked around my availability and came to the lodge on her day off. I did this as a surprise for my family and it was just the most perfect day! I’d highly recommend if you’re booking to stay on this site. A few small notes, the lights in the hot tub did not work, one of the lamps in the twin bedroom was broken, the settee facing the television had a defective ‘arm’ and the steam room light was on continuously the whole time we were there - I’m not sure if this had an impact on the use of the steam room as freezing cold water gathered on the ceiling. Whilst none of these little issues spoilt our stay, hopefully they will be rectified for future customers as for almost £250 per night they’re not issues we had expected. We did email them to make them aware whilst we were there but did not receive a reply - possibly due to it being over the Christmas period. Again this is a really lovely accommodation and we enjoyed our time here! I would definitely stay again if the little issues were rectified or if we stayed at a time of year that was cheaper.
