Guests consistently praise the warm welcome from the hosts, the comfort of the accommodation, and the unique experience of watching alpacas from the garden. The cottage is well equipped and thoughtfully decorated, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway. While the access track is noted as rough, this does not detract from the overall enjoyment. The tranquil setting, high standards, and attention to detail make this property highly recommended for couples seeking a restful escape.

Multiple reviews highlight the cottage as spotlessly clean, immaculately presented, and maintained to a very high standard. No negative comments regarding cleanliness were found.

The peaceful, secluded countryside location is widely praised, with beautiful views and proximity to Kielder Forest and local walks. The only recurring negative is the long, potholed access track, which some guests found challenging but not a deterrent.

Guests frequently mention the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and relaxing, with high-quality bedding (including alpaca duvets), a powerful shower, and a welcoming atmosphere. No significant comfort issues were reported.

The cottage is described as very well equipped, with a fully stocked kitchen, excellent shower, underfloor heating, wood burner, and thoughtful amenities. Occasional minor comments (e.g., heating settings, lack of shampoo) were noted but did not impact overall satisfaction.

Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as a set table and a bottle of wine on arrival, as well as the hosts’ friendliness and helpfulness. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We stayed at Ferny Rigg Byre for 3 nights. It was a really comfortable cottage with well considered architectural design. The cottage is a fairly recent barn conversion and was very well maintained with quality fittings throughout. The owners (who live next door in the farmhouse) had thought of everything we might need. The kitchen was well equipped, the shower was great and the bed was very comfortable. The duvet was filled with alpaca fleece from the very cute alpacas beyond the little garden. They were very entertaining to watch, especially the babies - one was less than a month old!In terms of amenities it’s a good idea to make sure you take what you need as the cottage is on a farm and the nearest village is over a mile away. There are no nearby shops. There’s a pub and a church in the village of Falstone but we ate at The Pheasant Inn in Stannersburn which is exactly two miles away. The food there was excellent. Quite possible to walk if you’re feeling energetic but we chose to drive as we’d already tired ourselves out gravel biking! Highly recommend cycling round Kielder Water - the paths are very well maintained. We also cycled on quiet but hilly NCR10 to Bellingham which was a lovely village - there was an interesting heritage centre and tearoom on an old Intercity rail carriage.Overall this was a very good place to relax but also to enjoy the excellent walking or cycling in this relatively undiscovered part of the country. Highly recommended for those who like to be active in the great outdoors!

Wow what a little gem of a cottage. A perfect peaceful getaway with a herd of Alpacas for company. The cottage is set in the owners grounds with a long driveway and two sets of gates to open and close. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you could possibly want for a perfect stay. The decor and furniture compliment the sympathetic restorations that the owners have achieved which is a credit to them. Bright and airy, a cracking shower and an extremely comfortable bed set on a mezzanine with a balcony. We had one of the most scenic and relaxing stays and would highly recommend. Would definitely stay again
