This is a very well equipped cottage perfect for families. We could have left all our toys at home as there was ample toys and books to play with in the house. The stream at the bottom of the garden is perfect for splashing, dam building and you can walk down the gorge and swim. We had a fab week enjoying walks, seeing birds, eating outside and generally letting the kids run wild! Best holiday ever in the middle of nowhere our four year declared as we left!

A very nice spacious house in a very attractive situation with views and access to countryside and walks. Shops and services in Allendale Town a short journey away. Hosts nearby, helpful and available without any interference. A lovely base for exploration, on foot or by car.

The cottage is kitted out like a house so you only need to bring food and washing products. The owners are not on top of you all the time and fix things quickly. If you are looking for a quiet restful retreat I can thoroughly recommend it. Hexham is ten miles away so plan your grocery shopping as it's your nearest supermarket. Tesco is huge. Scenery is stunning particularly around Hadrian's wall and strongly suggest you consider finding the Sycamore Gap. Good moderate walk. Chinese takeaway in town is not good let's just say they do quantity over quality. Boatside inn, Haydon Bridge is a good meal but pricey. There are two pet hens and two cats that live on site. The hens were a particular attraction to the kids LOL
