Guests say

Barmoor Cottage in Embleton is highly praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and excellent location close to the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, secure garden, and the property's suitability for dogs. While most found the property comfortable, a few noted issues with bed comfort. The absence of a welcome pack and some minor maintenance issues were mentioned, but overall, guests were very satisfied and would recommend the property.

The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with numerous guests describing it as clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Only one review mentioned a cleanliness issue regarding dog waste in the garden, which seems to be an isolated incident.

The location is frequently commended for its proximity to the beach, local pubs, and shops. Guests enjoy the quiet setting and the ease of access to coastal walks and nearby attractions, contributing to a high score.

While many guests found the cottage comfortable and cosy, there were some concerns about the comfort of the beds and sofas. The majority of reviews are positive, but the mattress discomfort and sofa firmness have affected the score.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciate the secure garden for dogs. However, some guests suggested improvements such as the addition of a smart TV, an external hose for dog washing, and better sofas. Maintenance issues like the shower cleanliness and bin lid were also noted.

There is no consistent mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately score the thoughtfulness category based on the available information.

Positives- All amenities working and in good order. Bed comfy and furniture comfy. Plenty of towels etc. Plenty of crockery and utensils. Location great, tucked down little used road in village. Enclosed garden for dog. Greys Inn in village was great for food and drink. Beach half a mile walk. Lovely walks to Craster and Low Newton along beach. Beautiful area. Some negatives No ‘welcome pack’, not even a pint of milk. Disappointed for price paid as did not seem very welcoming. However other things such as toilet rolls, dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid provided. Garden lawn was full of dog waste, appreciate this is from previous guests who should have sorted, but owner should have checked. Lid on kitchen bin not “popping” up so had to wrangle with bin each time to open. Needs pedal bin so don’t have to touch. Kettle needs descale or replacement. TV is very small in today’s standards. Overall we had a good stay and would come again

Embleton is a beautiful village. The cottage was very, very clean and toasty warm on arrival. It provided everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to have the secure garden. We really did enjoy our stay here and hope to return next September :0)
