The historic village is home to a wealth of historic sites such as Corbridge Roman Town located at Hadrian's Wall, home to a musuem and visitor centre, and the National Trust sites of Penshaw Monument and Gibside. The nearby town of Hexham is home to further attractions and amenities, such as the Hexham Old Gaol, the first purpose-built prison dating back to the 14th century, which is now a museum home to exhibitions on medieval crime.
