If you don't fancy cooking one evening, a scenic walk or short drive will take you to the centre of Corbridge, here you will find a number of restaurants such as Black Bull for pub grub, or Angel Fish & Chip Shops for a traditional fish and chip supper to be enjoyed back at the dwelling. The historic village is home to a wealth of historic sites such as Corbridge Roman Town located at Hadrian's Wall, home to a musuem and visitor centre, and the National Trust sites of Penshaw Monument and Gibside. The nearby town of Hexham is home to further attractions and amenities, such as the Hexham Old Gaol, the first purpose-built prison dating back to the 14th century, which is now a museum home to exhibitions on medieval crime. For a tranquil day out, discover Dilston Physic Garden which is home to a plethora of fascinating plants used in medicine over the years, now compilated into a delightful garden on the banks of a winding river. Slightly further afield, take a trip to the wonderful Northumberland coast to spend a day at the beach; Long Sands beach is reachable by car, where you will also find an abundance of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés to fuel the day's excursions.
