About this property

Located upon Holy Island, Northumberland, is Causeway Cottage, a well-positioned, three-bedroom abode. Enjoying sea views to the front and a convenient location near the beach and a hub of local amenities, Causeway Cottage makes the ideal base for a family seascape, inviting five guests and two furry companions. Benefit from two off-road parking spaces before travelling through the front garden and into the home. Firstly, reach the spacious living/dining room, where you can rest after a day of travelling upon the plush sofas, before gathering to plan your upcoming days. Head into the kitchen to fulfil your self-catering needs, where you can keep on top of your washing and prepare meals, ahead of dining indoors or outdoors within the enclosed, pet-friendly garden; set the patio furniture whilst enjoying views across the surrounding countryside. As the sun sets, return indoors to catch some rest, selecting between a king-size, a double, and a single bedroom, all well-presented and serviced by a sleek shower room. Come morning, prepare to explore Holy Island, starting off with your amenities, where you can stock up on the essentials, dine out and enjoy a tipple, selecting between The Ship Inn Holy Island, and The Crown & Anchor, or head to the Lindisfarne Mead winery to sample some local produce. For attractions, tour Lindisfarne Priory and Castle, enjoy a stroll along Holy Island Beach, or travel a little further for a nature-filled hike across Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. Travel over to mainland Northumberland, explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by visiting Berwick-upon-Tweed Beach Front, or mender alongside River Tweed before dining out at one of the many riverfront restaurants on offer. Continue north, stopping off at Seahouses and Bamburgh, both popular seaside locations, where you can board a Golden Gate Farne Islands Boat Trip to explore the coast some more, or enjoy the sweeping terrain of Bamburgh Beach, before climbing up to Bamburgh Castle and its elevated position. Experience all of this at Causeway Cottage.

With numerous visitors making pilgrimages to the priory or walking in the monks' footsteps along St. Cuthbert's Way, Holy Island is today a well-known tourist destination. The thrilling trip to Holy Island, which is located in the centre of the Heritage Coastline, starts with a vital tide check because the island is only accessible through a long causeway that becomes impassable as the tide comes in. A short stroll will bring you to the priory from the adequate central parking. The hamlet itself features charming tea houses, taverns, and a museum that explores the intriguing history of the island. The Northumberland Coastal Walk, which travels through Beal barely two miles inland and continues down the Heritage Coast, will satisfy nature lovers; i offers breath-taking vistas along the way.

House was in a great position away from the crowds with a view over a field of sheep at the back.Kitchen was well stocked for a self catering holiday and the house was plenty big enough.Only downside was the back garden was not enclosed as in the description (no side gate) and the shower could really do with being thermostatically controlled.

The only snag we had is that the garden is not enclosed and the rear wall is low with the sheep on the other side, so our little puppies escaped out the front and nervous of them jumping the wall.

No views but in winter that didn’t bother us and only a short walk to see everything. I would definitely go back.
