The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. The comments are all the same from previous visitors in the visitors book. Why have these not been addressed by the owners? Furniture looks as if it has been reclaimed from the dump and extremely uncomfortable. The mattress was rock hard so sleeping was difficult. Crockery out the ark and old wooden spoons. No sieve. We only had cereal for breakfast and ate out the rest of the time. Only good thing was the property was close enough to walk to the shops and harbour. Everything is tired and dated.

The house is comfortable and has everything you would need. There is in street parking; we were always able to park outside the front door. For people with dogs there is a green just across the road. We would recommend without question

The street was quiet and characterful. The cottage was clean, but felt a little damp. There was a dripping tap in the kitchen, with an arrangement to fix it after we left. The bed in the main bedroom was uncomfortable. The second bedroom had no bedside table. The bathroom was new, clean and in good condition. The kitchen was well equipped and ideal for what we needed, although we only had breakfast and drinks there. It was fine for 4 nights, but I am not sure I would have wanted to stay in the cottage longer.
