Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

The property itself was lovely parking a slight problem as you need to be able to drive out as strange get on to a main road

The owners Sue and Richard were extremely welcoming and totally unobtrusive despite living next door. In easy distance of places to go, the beach and local shops.

The cottage had everything we needed and more. Sue and Richard were brilliant hosts, very friendly and helpful, if we come back to Northumberland we would definitely book Plumtree Cottage again.
