Just a short walk from the heart of Alnmouth, Northumberland, Old Stable Cottage is a delightful and newly refurbished holiday cottage that has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining the property’s original features and would make the ideal venue for a family holiday or get-together with friends. The open-plan living space demonstrates this commitment to detail with solid wood flooring, ceiling beams and a feature fireplace with woodburning stove complemented by a stylish seating area and chic décor and soft furnishings, which all add up to make a truly inviting space. The adjoining kitchen is a delight to cook in with everything needed to produce delicious food for the holiday party and there is an attractive dining area where you can imagine indulging in long, leisurely meals together. If the sun is shining, then why not take a seat on the bench to the front of the property and soak up any rays while you can? All that fresh air will have tired everyone out so take your pick from any of three well-presented bedrooms; a double, a twin or the master. The master suite is a particular feature with a sumptuous king-size bed just asking for you to sink into it and spend a night recharging your batteries and which also benefits from stylish en-suite facilities. You are already right in the centre of the picturesque village of Alnmouth which has a good selection of shops and eateries, a golf course and miles of sandy beaches. The compelling town of Alnwick is just a short drive away where you will find a stunning castle and gardens or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian’s Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo. Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal. If you love wildlife, then you’ve come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. Activities worth having a go at while you’re here include golf at Alnmouth Golf Club, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre, surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach and sailing at Beadnell Sailing Club. Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.
