You are within easy driving reach of the popular market town of Bishop Auckland (4 miles) with its wide range of shops, galleries, a theatre, friendly pubs and restaurants. Visit the country park at Witton Castle, the ancient ruins at Binchester Roman Fort, take a walk amongst the deer in the park at Auckland Castle and spend a day at Beamish Living Museum (all within 16 miles). The cathedral city of Durham is a must visit during your stay at 8 miles. Stroll along the river, choose a nice place for lunch, enjoy the Botanic Gardens and the history of Durham Castle, and with events both indoors and outdoors all year round, there is always something new to discover.
