Historic Barnard Castle, 6 miles, boasts an array of shops, inns, restaurants, a splendid Norman castle, antique shops and the famous Bowes Museum, with changing exhibitions. The Metro Centre, Beamish and Lake District are an hour away. Visit interesting Leyburn village and The Forbidden Corner near Middleham. Fishing, golf and riding locally. Pub and cafe 2 miles.

We loved this cosy, comfortable cottage. It had everything necessary for a relaxing week away in the middle of dale country. The hosts was very welcoming, full of information about the buildings origins and ready to do anything to make our stay comfortable without compromising our privacy. The terrace at the back was like a personal hide to watch the amazing bird life and interact with curious sheep. When we could drag ourselves away from the quiet life we visited Barnard Castle and Richmond, both worth exploring. The castle itself has a historic feel and stirs the imagination. Also visit the High Force, walk back through the forest and reward yourself with a cuppa and impressive scone at the High Force Hotel. But you needn't go anywhere, just enjoy the warmth and peace of the Chapel.

A lovely cottage. Very cosy and comfortable with everything you need. Janice the owner is very knowledgeable with the history of the cottage and surrounding area. Plenty of places to visit and excellent local walks.
