On the first floor, Hide & Bolt has two bedrooms, one double and one single, and a beautifully tiled bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower to start your day, topped off with a warm towel from the heated towel rail. Sitting in the centre of town, and a stones throw from all this historical village has to offer, the cottage is close to local shops and eateries, along with contemporary wine bars, pubs, and historical and cultural sites such as the castle, The Bowes Museum and Egglestone Abbey. You will also find the bustling market place just a short walk away, making this cottage the perfect base to experience Barnard Castle to the fullest. Staindrop is another picturesque town a short journey away, with the stunning Raby Castle Parks and Gardens, a traditional pub for a tasty lunch and surrounded by countryside for excellent walks. To the south rests Richmond, a market town with a unique character surrounded by stunning scenery, where you will find the ruins of Richmond Castle, Richmondshire Museum or catch a performance and one of Britain's oldest theatres, Georgian Theatre Royal. Barnard Castle is a market town situated in the beautiful countryside of Teesdale, County Durham. The town boasts cobbled streets, yards and back lanes, all standing on the site of an ancient Roman fort which crosses the river. The stunning medieval ruins of the castle are worth a visit, along with the nearby Bowes Museum for its architecture and fascinating exhibitions.
