Accessed via a rough track, this delightful thatched cottage, a wing of the owner’s home, also boasts modern fixtures and fittings in the kitchen, thus giving guests the best of both worlds. You can enjoy the pretty cottage garden in spring, summer and autumn, and in winter you can retreat to the conservatory.
The Redgrave and Lopham National Nature Reserve, with its marked trails for walkers, is just over five minutes’ drive away. This special place supports a diverse range of plants and animals, but it’s not just a fen. You can also explore the areas of woodland, heath and even follow the river Waveney that rises here. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or just keen to get outside there is always something to enjoy here. A minute’s drive away is Bressingham Steam & Gardens , a steam museum and gardens. The site has several narrow gauge rail lines and a variety of steam engines and vehicles in its collection and is also the home of the national Dad’s Army exhibition.
Just 3 miles away is the historical market town of Diss, with its famous mere, one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country set within lush green parkland. Here you will find a good mix of artisan and high street places to shop, eat and drink. Venture a little further and you can be in the medieval city of Norwich, with its splendid Norman castle, Bury St Edmunds, with its famous abbey, Ipswich marina and Ely, with its magnificent cathedral, all which can be reached within an hour. History buffs, keen shoppers and foodies alike will find much to enjoy in all of these great towns and cities. And, if you don’t want to drive, Diss also boasts a mainline train station!
For a change of pace, head to the coast and discover the delights of Southwold with its traditional pier and pretty painted beach huts. So, if you choose Rose Cottage for your holiday, you really will find something to see and do in every direction. You can then return to this sweet little retreat for a good night’s sleep, and perhaps to dream of adventures yet to come. Shop 1 mile.
