Swardeston is the birth place of Edith Cavell, probably the most famous woman to be killed during World War I and remembered around the world for all her tireless and selfless work she undertook whilst working as a nurse, before being executed on 12 October 1915. Edith’s portrait hangs in her memory on the east stained glass window of St Mary’s church and is worthy of a visit. Enjoy fresh bread, pastries and cakes from the village bakery, or visit the local pub, under 1 mile away, which serves good food. There is also a farm shop for fresh veg and fruit as well as a newsagents and butchers. Swardeston Common is very popular with walkers, also from here you can watch the local cricket matches played in front of the pavilion.

Explore the Suffolk Heritage Coast and the popular seaside towns of Aldebugh and Southwold. The historical city of Norwich is 5 miles, with its cathedrals, museums, theatre, excellent shopping and cosmopolitan cafés. The seaside village of Winterton-on-Sea has an excellent sandy beach backed by dunes and plenty of shops and restaurants. Fantastic time had by all.I guess because of the location we had a few spiders. The house was nice however we needed to hoover up cobwebs some of the fitting are getting tired. The large sofa isn’t the most comfortable. No freezer space at all plus no cupboards to put ambient food into. The hot tub was a little cloudy but ok.Massive towels were provided.Even with all above fantastic value for money.I feel if the above was addressed then all I could write is more positive review. Location everything seemed to only be 30min away plus a bakery on your doorstep.

It is advertised as a luxury cottage, it was far from that. We feel that the cottage needs to be refurbished. From the hot tub, where only a few jets work, to the sofas, which were the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in. From past reviews I've read from last year that have not been addressed, still not enough glasses or large mugs, coffee machine that didn't work, dont put the plugs in the sink as is a struggle to remove them. All showers need an upgrade. I know this is a big moan but we all pay decent money to stay in these cottages and expect to have decent accommodation.
