About this property
This beautifully renovated old Victorian railway carriage is bursting with character, and is set at the bottom of a paddock surrounded by nature. What more memorable and comfortable way to spend a break relaxing or exploring Norfolk?
Stepping back in time to the wonderful era of the steam train is effortless, thanks to the quirky original brass features and flooring in this wonderful carriage. On entering The Railway Carriage you will find yourself in the large open-plan living area. At one end of the train is a fully equipped kitchen, stocked with everything you need to cook something delicious after a day discovering Norfolk. There is an electric oven and induction hob, fridge and microwave - along with all the pots, pans and crockery you could possibly want. Sit back and relax in the middle section of the carriage; with a comfortable leather sofa in front of a flat screen television. There is also an authentic dining table and seating for two with views out over the surrounding paddocks. Linked onto the carriage is The Guards Room, where a classic Victorian, walnut double bed sits between two windows with views of woodland on one side and green paddocks on the other. The en-suite shower room leads from the bedroom with a large walk-in shower, wash basin and WC.
The Railway Carriage welcomes up to two dogs for a small additional charge. It is also possible to bring a horse along with you for a small additional charge, however please note there is no stabling available.

Great accommodation - very comfortable and had everything we needed. Paddock was great for the dogs, and location is very quiet and great for getting straight out into the country for walks.

To be honest, I only had modest expectations as this was a late booking and there were only few properties available in the area. However, both my wife and I were stunned by the quality and comfort of this property. Despite going here in the late autumn, the railway carriage was really cosy and warm. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Great wi-fi with a Smart TV meant we could watch all our favourite shows on Amazon, Netflix, NowTV etc. The carriage is in a very peaceful setting within an enclosed large paddock; so very dog friendly. I highly recommend that you go to The Sidings bakery in Melton Constable for breakfast pastries that you can enjoy in the paddock with a cup of tea. It is just a short drive to the Jurassic coast for fossil hunting.We have no hesitation in recommending this property; it is amazing.
