Decorated and furnished to a very good standard, it sits just seven miles from the beautiful coast, and you can be walking along the pretty shoreline in under 20 minutes. Briston and nearby Melton Constable offer lots of great local amenities including conveniences shops, takeaways and a great local foodie pub too, but venture a little further and you will find the area is brimming with good places to eat and drink whatever your tastes or pockets. Start your time here by pottering around the much sought-after Georgian town of Holt, which is simply packed with artisan and boutique cafe’s, pubs, restaurants and shops.
The charming market towns of Aylsham, Fakenham and Reepham are also within easy reach. Beach lovers should make time to visit Wells-next-the-Sea with its stunning quay and wide, sandy beach with painted beach huts and Blakeney, home to England’s largest colony of Grey Seals. Alternatively, head to Cromer, which is packed with seaside attractions including its famous pier where you can enjoy a spot of lunch and indulge in some people watching. In fact, this part of Norfolk is surrounded with beautiful beaches, sweeping clay, salt marshes and picturesque quays, all ready and waiting for you to explore. Another Norfolk highlight, the Broads, lie just over half an hour away. Why not join a boat charter or hire your own day launch? There is so much wildlife to see and as you set sail along these waterways you are sure to relax, unwind and enjoy the view. Voted in the top ten city break destinations by the Times, Norwich is well worth a visit too and you can be there in around 40 minutes. Here you can visit the Norman Castle, numerous museums, galleries and theatres and shop till you drop in destinations including the award-winning market and the twisty and highly unique lanes.
Add in Amazonia Zoo, the Muckleburgh and Thursford Collections, Bewilderwood, North Norfolk and Bure Valley Railways, the Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham Estates, Pensthorpe, Sheringham Park and rspb Cley Marshes, and so very much more, and you will soon see why families have been visiting this part of Norfolk for generations.
