Sitting pretty in the outskirts of the small North Norfolk village of Swanton Novers, Bell House and the Stables at Bell House have everything you need for the perfect getaway whether you are seeking something large and impressive or something small and perfectly formed. Formerly an inn, imposing Bell House would be best described as a manor house property and accommodates up to twelve guests in six bedrooms and boasts an impressive three bathrooms, one of which has a spa bath. This makes this a great escape for couples travelling together, two or three families wanting to relax with company or indeed three generations planning an escape to remember. There is much to love about this house, not least of all the Jacuzzi in the private garden, which is the largest one available and offers somewhere special to relax. With a small snug, which has the TV in it and a large living room, with quirky bespoke made metal elephant heads on the wall, this impressive property also has a formal dining room, which is perfect to gather around and raise a toast to old memories while making new ones. The outside is just as special with two and a half acres of private land featuring a small orchard, a wild flower garden, croquet, boules and other outside games. This has been the owner’s own much-loved family home and it shows. It is lived-in luxury, which means that everything is set up for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Set within the grounds but still enjoying a degree of privacy, The Stables at Bell House is a brand new renovation, created by the owners and, like Bell House it offers feature beds. Sleeping four, both the bedrooms are en-suite and one even has a spa bath. It also offers open-plan living and outside you will find an Indian sandstone patio. In fact, you can be sure that no expense has been spared to make this the perfect escape for two couples of a small family. You will be tempted to stay onsite, socialise or relax and unwind but should you venture out you will find yourself within easy reach of the stunning Norfolk Coastline, the famous Norfolk Broads and the fine city of Norwich and so much history and wildlife too. So, a perfect location and great properties. Good choice. Now enjoy!

No towel rails, not windows in bathrooms or radiators or working extractor fans. No draining board in kitchen. Poor lighting. Over complicated difficult 3 area underfloor heating. Cobwebs. Shower floor that never dries out through the week, musty smell. Dishwasher not next to the sink. TV way to large for the room and too high on wall. Rubbish WiFi, especially when the main house occupants are at home (is Wifi shared?) not good when they are streaming.

We had a very lovely stay in the Stables and would return in the future. First the good things. The house is really well appointed. Good quality kitchen fittings ( even if it did take me a while to realise the job was convection ) and an excellent stock of dishes, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans etc. Very comfortable sofa, big dining table, large fridge freezer with ice maker, and TV with free view channels. Nice decor and a lovely feel. All rooms have doors that open to the patio which was a lovely touch. The beds are really comfortable - the double bed is huge, and the linen is really good quality. Great pillows :) and loads of wardrobe and drawer storage. A nice outside space, fairly well screened from the car parking area, with some wooden chairs with cushions and a couple of small tables. The patio gets sun for a lot of the day. Rural and quiet but within an hour maximum of the coast, the Broads, and Norwich so a great location for us. The downsides are very much as others have said. The cleaners need to do a better job. Everything was just not quite as clean as it could have been. It took me all of ten minutes with kitchen cleaner and a cloth to fix it so it should have been done already. Just slightly grubby taps and surfaces, water splashes making things look dirty, the hob not properly polished. The fridge btw was spotless !! Others complained about cobwebs but seriously you’d have to be 15 feet tall to reach them. They didn’t bother me at all. The dishwasher isn’t great so I ended up washing everything before I used it first time. The worst thing is the bin situation which really needs to be addressed. One black bin for up to 16 people, emptied only every two weeks is unacceptable. It was already full when we arrived with another week to go before collection. By the end of a very hot week it was absolutely crawling with hundreds of maggots and as it was impossible to add anything to it we just had to leave bags by the side. Be aware that all parking is in front of the big house. There is a parking space for the stables and as long as there are no more than three cars for the big house it works perfectly well. There is no way you could park on the road - it’s narrow and the odd bit of traffic is speedy What looks like a private space through gates in the photo of the back of the stables doesn’t actually exist. All in all we had a very lovely time and would definitely return as the positives fully outweighed the negatives, but the owners really should address the bin situation.

Beautiful accommodation, warm and comfortable. The only thing that I requested that didn't happen was to have the two singles made into a double. But otherwise a lovely holiday.
