This 300-year old, luxurious and stylish Grade II listed, flint cottage in the coastal village of Holme-next-the-Sea is the perfect love nest for two. Nestled in the heart of this quiet village, opposite the pub which serves good food, and only a short 15-minute stroll across the golf course to the sandy beach, Piper Cottage is fabulously styled with original beams, thick stone walls, and a wood burning stove.
Step inside and you are guaranteed to fall in love immediately. The owner, who is an interior designer, has styled the property using a palette of soft greys and blues, which reflects the coastal location and little touches make this place very special whatever time of year you choose to visit. Walk into the living space and take a seat on the soft sofa or one of the easy chairs. At the gate-leg table you can look forward to supper over a glass of wine or simply write postcards home. Off the sitting room you’ll find a beamed kitchen with modern painted units which blends in perfectly with the interior of the cottage. Perfectly formed and comprehensively equipped, you’ll find everything you need to cook up a treat using locally caught seafood and shellfish and some fabulous local produce, all available within a five mile radius. Climb the Norfolk winder staircase to the first floor where you’ll discover a stunning king-size bedroom with quality linens, soft feather pillows, duvet, and soft furnishings. Next door you’ll find a super shower room and WC with a second, separate WC. On a practical note, there is also a spacious utility room which comes with the property which is located in an outbuilding just a few steps from the row of cottages. Here you’ll find a washing machine, Butler’s sink, barbecue base and additional fridge/freezer. The room is especially useful for drying wet dogs and securely storing cycles etc. Outside you have a south-facing suntrap courtyard with garden furniture provided so you can soak up the rays and enjoy a leisurely coffee. Alternatively, you have a second more shaded area directly behind the cottage. This has a table with chairs, benches and loungers perfect for relaxing and al fresco dining. Both areas are fenced and dog secure.
Leave the car and enjoy a longer walk along the beach to Hunstanton in one direction or to Thornham, along the coastal path via the Holme Dunes Nature Reserve, in the other. Hunstanton and Thornham have excellent pubs and cafes, Thornham also has a popular deli and a farm shop. If you run out of steam, there is an hourly bus service to get you home. Further afield enjoy a day out at trendy Burnham Market, historic Holkham Hall Estate, and bustling, traditional Wells-next-the-Sea. All are served by the coastal bus service. The bus also stops at the rspb Titchwell Marsh reserve. If you enjoy golf, then head to the famous links course at Old Hunstanton, a short five minute drive away or you can walk the course from Holme.
