About this property

A peaceful location in the small village of Crimplesham, ideally placed for discovering all that Norfolk has to offer. The apartment is just 2 miles from the historic market town of Downham Market, where there are excellent amenities and you can jump on the train to King’s Lynn, which is connected to London King’s Cross, or Ely and visit the stunning cathedral. For those looking for a day at the beach, Hunstanton is 25 miles away and makes for a great day out with traditional arcades, beautiful esplanade gardens, boat trips to see seals, the Sea Life Centre and more. Visit the Watatunga Wildlife Reserve (6 miles) and experience a Norfolk safari in which the animals roam free among 170 acres of countryside. Welney Wetland Centre (11 miles), Denver Windmill (4 miles) for cream teas, and the King’s Estate at Sandringham (17 miles), are all worth a visit.

Records indicate a house existed on this site as far back as 1040, however the current house was completed in 1881 and designed by Alfred Waterhouse, one of the most successful British architects of the 19th century. Offering cosy and light-filled accommodation for up to four guests, the sympathetically updated apartment provides a welcoming atmosphere with vibrant decor and soft furnishings. The entrance to this property leads you upstairs from the driveway to the first floor. On entering the apartment, you are welcomed into a wide corridor. The first door leads to the lounge with a large, comfortable sofa and furniture reminiscent of the hall’s rich history. There are two bedrooms, both in keeping with the traditional styling, one with a striking antique double bed and the other with twin beds. One of the twin beds is a four-poster with soft, sheer canopies; you can’t help but feel like royalty! The kitchen/diner is light and well-equipped, a lovely place to enjoy early breakfasts or sociable evening meals. The family bathroom completes the apartment.

The hall stands within 5 acres of beautiful grounds which guests can enjoy. The private woodland is a haven for wildlife and the lake provides just the spot to relax on a blanket in the warmer months. There is a patio area with garden furniture (shared with other properties on site) and large lawned gardens. Venture further through the grounds and you’ll find the ruins of an old folly dating back to the 10th century, said to be the finest folly in Norfolk.
