About this property

Resting upon the cusp of The Norfolk Broads National Park and benefitting from the on-site facilities of Tingdene Caldecott Hall Country Park is Charlay's, a stylish, single-storey 2022 plate, lodge. With access to a range of sought-after facilities, including the use of Caldecott Hall Golf & Leisure, an on-site bar and restaurant, and fishing facilities, Charlay's offers the ideal base for a rural escape, inviting six guests. Travel through the park and park up to the side of the lodge, ascending the steps up to the decked area. Head indoors to reach the contemporary, open-plan living space, complete with a Smart TV, a plush corner sofa bed, dining seating for six, a breakfast bar, and a sleek kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, perfect for fulfilling your self-catering needs. Prepare meals and dine indoors, or head outside to relish in your peaceful surroundings, where you can bird watch, and spot the neighbouring deer whilst dining alfresco upon the wrap-around decking. Return indoors to refresh in the shower room, before catching some rest in either of the two bedrooms on offer, including a king-size with en-suite cloakroom, and a twin; both offer plenty of storage to unpack and make yourself at home. Once a site offering hospitality and leisure facilities, Tingdene Caldecott Hall Country Park is now a holiday complex, offering a fabulous range of features; enjoy a round of 18-holes, or visit the Redwings Horse Sanctuary, also home to a delightful café and gift shop. Fritton is also enveloped by woodland walking trails and hikes, recommended to pack your walking boots for, and offers breath-taking vantage points of Fritton Lake. If you can tear yourself away, head for Great Yarmouth and its coastline, with the chance to tour the Tolhouse Museums, the Elizabethan House Museum, and stroll along the Britannia Pier, before enjoying a bag of fish and chips whilst strolling along Great Yarmouth Beach. For a day of watersports, head to Beccles Lido swimming pool, offering various sized pools, activities, and slides for all of the family to enjoy. Lowestoft South Pier is also recommended to visit, along with the Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park for the thrill-seekers of your group, teaming with rollercoasters and amusements. Travel into the national park to discover the Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, or to stroll along the lofty landscape of River Yare, before returning home in time for supper. For a memorable break, book Charlay's.

The village of Fritton is located in the English county of Norfolk, north-west of the Suffolk town of Lowestoft and south-west of the town of Great Yarmouth. In addition to an 18-hole golf course close by and walking paths through Waveney Forest to the river, this village is surrounded by marshes and trees. Views of the disused Fritton Marsh Drainage Mill can be seen while strolling along the River Waveney. Fritton shares a boundary with Fritton Lake, commonly known as Fritton Decoy, which is a portion of the Somerleyton Estate and lies on the Suffolk/Norfolk line. The lake is a lovely, privately owned waterway that supports several tourist attractions and kid-friendly activities. In this picturesque setting, there is a lot to discover.

Everything you could possibly need is included. I would have no hesitation in rebooking at a future date and would recommend it to anyone.

On arrival we found the lodge to be spotlessly clean and were greeted with a lovely basket of essentials, personal towels and toiletries. The lodge had a lovely homely feel and the owners Sharon and Andrew went out of their way to make sure everything was ok for us. I would have have no hesitation in returning and would thoroughly recommend a visit.
