This medieval city boasts a Norman castle, numerous museums and galleries, cinemas, theatres and lots of great places to eat, shop and drink, including the Lanes which is filled with independent retailers and boutique bars, cafes and restaurants. Closer still lies the Mid Norfolk Railway, which offers trips from Yaxham to Wymondham.
Coast lovers can be at the stunning North Norfolk coastline in under 45 minutes. Here you will find a string of pretty coastal villages and towns with beaches, quays and salt marshes all ready to be explored. Make time for a spot of crabbing at Blakeney Quay or a boat trip to see the seals, or visit Cromer and take a walk along the much photographed pier.

We just came home from a really lovely stay at Alder Lodge. The extra little details really made our stay. The welcome basket was so thoughtful too! All the amenities were available, plus even more - Sophie and Dan have thought of everything. Relaxing in the hot tub was a big highlight, and the local farm shop (The Goat Shed) is definitely worth a visit as the food is lovely and all the staff are really great! We will definitely be returning to Alder Lodge 😁

We had a wonderful stay at Alder Lodge, very comfortable and cosy with everything you could need. The hosts were just fantastic very attentive and helpful, we had a lovely welcome hamper which was wonderful, even the dog got treats 🐶Everything was just perfect and we would definetely stay ago.

Alder Lodge is a lovely accommodation. Very well furnished with everything you need. The host has thought of all the necessitys you need, and even offers you a little hamper with all the basics, and a few treats thrown in too. Its extremely comfortable and cozy and the hot tub is a wonderful bonus. It's a remote property which was perfect for us, and only 10mins drive away from Dereham if you need any shopping or restaurants. The only slight change I would make would be to bring a softer pillow for the bed as the ones there are quite firm, but that is obviously a personal requirement. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
