Ambleside 2.3 miles. This stylish, semi-detached cottage is rurally located, yet only a couple of miles from the bustling town of Ambleside in the beautiful Lake District National Park. Thompson Cottage sits in the stunning Troutbeck Valley surrounded by glorious countryside, and offers a welcoming, well-equipped holiday base, perfect for friends or families looking to discover the many delights of the Lake District. This superb cottage, with its contemporary ground floor including a wet room, spacious kitchen/diner and delightful sitting room with woodburning stove, provides comfortable accommodation, whilst three cosy and bright bedrooms on the first floor are a delight to retire to at the close of each day. To the rear is a large lawned garden and raised sun patio with loungers, table and chairs, a pretty and peaceful space to relax in after a long day walking the surrounding fells. A second raised seating area at the front of the property allows you to catch the sun as it makes its way around the cottage. Superbly placed for walking, you can stroll from the doorstep down to the National Trust farmhouse of Townend, which is less than a mile away, to discover the history of the area. Why not take a walk along the local footpath through Cockshot Wood, which is particularly picturesque with bluebells in May, and onto the splendour of Lake Windermere? There are many pubs within a couple of miles, and not to be missed is a 15 minute drive north to the atmospheric Kirkstone Pass Inn, set high on a hill, where on a clear day you can enjoy views that stretch all the way to the sea. Continuing further will take you to Ullswater, with breathtaking views at every twist and turn of the route. Returning after a day’s exploring, open the French doors onto the large sunny terrace or settle on the raised patio at the front to enjoy a relaxing drink. If a chill lingers in the air, then a cosy up in front of the woodburning stove, or a soak in the bath in the large modern bathroom is sure to restore you. Thompson Cottage sits amongst glorious scenery, making it an ideal choice all year round.
