Courtyard with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. Woodside Cottage has a fabulous open plan living/dining area with a magnificent wood burner taking centre stage of the room. The outdoor terrace enjoys the sun for most of the day and the side door opens straight into the well-equipped spacious kitchen. Upstairs, offers three wonderfully decorated bedrooms and two family bathrooms over two floors. Backbarrow is set in the South Lakes Peninsula and is a perfect gateway to explore many popular attractions, the closest being the Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Take a leisurely train ride into Bowness-on-Windermere and witness the stunning landscape as you go.
Just a 5-minute drive down the road and you are in Newby Bridge, popular for its fantastic riverside pubs and home to the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake Cruises. Take a wonderful cruse across the largest lake in the UK over to the popular town of Ambleside. If walking is more of what you are looking for then you are spoilt for choice, with 214 Wainwright fells within easy reach you have plenty of options to choose from. There are also an abundance of cycling routes close by or if you want to go further afield, there are many other popular Lake District towns to explore such as Grasmere and Ulverston. Why not head over to Grange-over-Sands or Cartmel, famous for its sticky toffee pudding, Michelin star restaurant and horse racing. This really is the perfect holiday home to enjoy an active and fun family holiday. Beach 8 miles.

We cannot fault the cottage. Lovely place to stay and the location was good for us. However we were disappointed with the management company (cottages.com). When booking we requested a high chair for our 10 month grandson. It was noted on the booking and the listing said one was included at the cottage. When we arrived we couldn’t find the high chair. I reported it to cottages.com who told me they would get one to us. Never happened! That being said, we would stay here again.

Myself and my family had a great time at Woodside cottage very relaxing just what was needed as we were celebrating my daughters birthday. The cottage is a beautifully area lovely walks around natural waterfall at the back of the house right next to a steam train track. Woodside Cottage is beautifully decorated and very clean with plenty of amenities making it a home from home.

We had an amazing holiday in this stunning cottage. The view was gorgeous. The roaring fire was fabulous in this cold winter.Never mind about the underfloor heating downstairs. Cosy feet, lovely. The decor is beautiful, makes one feel at home. Colours fit in beautifully in the nature outside. Touches of wee ornaments on shelving are lovely. Kitchen well equipped. Quality dinner services. More than enough drinking glasses , small and large. Large fridge to accomodate large family. Suggestion perhaps more than 2 dish towels. . Bedding high quality Dorma. The free membership at the Cascade added to the fun. Loved the Christmas decor. A very cheerful lit up Christmas tree in the window to greet us. We had a couple of hiccups, but they were resolved. One took a day longer. Contacting Cottage.Com Customer service was a breeze, bearing in mind this was Christmas.
