Guests say

Bluebird Lodge 2 offers a peaceful and private retreat in a lovely location near Coniston Water, ideal for exploring the Lake District. Guests particularly enjoyed the hot tub and found the lodge spacious and well-furnished. While many praised the cleanliness and amenities, some noted issues with kitchen equipment, maintenance, and bed comfort. The site is quiet and scenic, though a car is needed for local amenities. Overall, the lodge provides a relaxing base for walkers and families seeking a tranquil getaway.

Several guests found the lodge clean and tidy, with particular praise for the hot tub's upkeep. However, some reported issues such as a dirty oven, leftover items from previous guests, and dusty extractor fans, indicating occasional lapses in cleaning standards.

The location is frequently highlighted as a major positive, offering easy access to Coniston Water and beautiful walks. The peaceful, secluded setting is appreciated, though some guests noted the need to drive to shops and restaurants.

Guests enjoyed the spaciousness and furnishings, but several mentioned that the beds were quite hard and the duvet was undersized, which affected sleep quality for some. The lodge is otherwise comfortable for relaxing after outdoor activities.

The hot tub is a standout feature, and the lodge is generally well-equipped. However, some guests experienced issues with kitchen utensils, maintenance (such as a leaking toilet and loose hot tub lights), and a lack of instructions or essentials.

Some guests appreciated the provision of tea, coffee, and sugar, but there were no mentions of special gifts or welcome packs. The lack of an information handbook and some missing essentials were noted. Please note that any complimentary items are not guaranteed.

This was the most under equipped lodge we have ever stayed in. It was for 4 people but there was only 3 forks 3 spoons and two cups. There was no cutting knives at all. When we arrived the lodge was cold and we couldn’t find the thermostat which was covered by a curtain. There were no instructions in the lodge about anything, no passwords to get on the Wi-Fi. The internet only worked intermittently and that was after we called someone out to sort it out but for the duration of the time we were there (4nights) it would only work sporadically. The oven was filthy when we arrived. When we reported these things to the contact we were given, who it said would be on site but wasn’t, we were just given excuses. The lodges were clearly not cleaned and checked properly before the next guests arrived. There was a pair of trunks left on one of the radiators from the previous occupants. The hot tub was nice although difficult to get in and out of.

While this lodge is on a lovely quiet and secluded site/pitch we were disappointed overall. The description was somewhat disceptive. Although stated to be at the end of Coniston Water, you could not see it and the lake was down a very steep driveway to the main road. Unless you are seasoned walkers, too far to walk there and back comfortably (I am 71 with dodgy knees). It was very bright, clean and tidy with a comfy corner sofa facing a 42" smart TV with free wifi. The beds were very hard, the kitchen lacked essentials usually provided. Such as salt, pepper, tin foil, chopping board. There was tea, coffee and sugar though. No essential information/lodge information or local amenities handbook either. The bathroom (2) extractor fans were badly clogged with heavy dust sticking through. I politely informed the owner who assured me they were unaware and would rectify this promptly. The hot tub was lovely and clean, well positioned and private. Checked daily every morning for cleanliness and hygiene by a contractor too. However, 2 of the inset light fittings kept working loose and floating in the water. They didn't work either. We spent 3 days there and overall had a relaxing stay despite these niggles. But we were glad to get back to a comfortable bed.Perfect if you are fit, like walking and prefer hard mattresses, but stock up on essentials.

Lovely lodge with everything you need! Perfect base for exploring by the Lake District, with the added bonus of a hot tub at the end of the day!!! Very small site so it’s nice and quiet. The double bed is a little hard and the duvet not quite the right size for the bed so could do with a refresh but other than that we loved our stay!
