Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: No children under 12 years old. There are 3 steps in the garden, and sloping banks and steep drops within the grounds. I stayed at The Fold for 5 nights. Reading the reviews I took bags of logs. To get there and find there is plenty of logs. WiFi worked for 2 days and for what ever reason it stopped in the welcome book it does say that they are getting WiFi so I took it as its getting installed this is why it went off. It didnt spoil my holiday. You come to a place of natural beauty not to sit on your phone. The views are beautiful plenty of walks from the door step. Will return this year. Im only short but low ceiling on your way to bed and then at the top of the stairs. Few brandys...and I didnt learn. Cosy with peaceful and beautiful views.

I loved staying at Hallin Fold - it is a beautiful and cosy little cottage! The views are stunning and Ullswater shore is only 20 mins walk away. Unfortunately I coincided my stay with the first two named storms of the winter, but me and the dogs made the best of walking the lanes of Martindale, and I even had a chilly swim in Ullswater.Just a few things that might help future residents: Just to be clear, there is no phone signal whatsoever and no wifi, although the people at the adjoining cottage kindly let me stand on their porch and jump on their router now and again. Also there is free WiFi available in St Peter’s church up the lane. The FreeSat is also definitely not working, with the freesat box not receiving any signal from the dish. I drove to Pooley Bridge to buy AAA batteries as the freesat remote didn’t have any in it, but neither that nor fiddling around with all the HDMI cables and sockets and the dish in the garden made it work. I guess it needs an engineer to come out and fix it. The DVD player works fine! You could bring a radio for company, but I don’t know if there is any reception. I also bought some logs for the burner on the same trip to Pooley Bridge as there were only two left in the basket and none in the store outside; only to discover that there are no matches or lighter either, so bring something with you if you want a fire - I gave up at this point!The Pooley Bridge shopping trip also involved getting loo rolls, because I was only left two for the week, and rubbish bags because there weren’t any. So maybe bring some of those!The shower works for 3.5 mins before the tank empties, you then just need to wait 1 min for it to fill up again before you can continue. Finally, bring a big mug for tea if you like one, as there are only small cups in the cupboard.

I loved it here - so peaceful. The property is simple but had everything needed. Kitchen is well supplied with utensils, the bathroom is lovely with a good shower. The bedroom has a comfortable bed - nowhere to hang up clothes but this wasn't an issue for me. Plenty of cupboard space. The property is very cosy, the heating works well. I loved the little patio looking out onto the fells, beautiful spot to rest and contemplate. The location is absolutely stunning, you couldn't wish for a better place to get away from it all.Only 2 minor issues - I couldn't get the FreeSat box to work - not actually a problem for me as there were plenty of DVDs, but more instruction on how this works would be helpful. And the controls for the heating system are in bedroom, which means there's the sound of ticking - it's not constant but most of the time. If you are very noise sensitive when sleeping, bring ear plugs. I am fairly, but was able to ignore it enough to sleep. Just a tiny thing, overall I loved it here and wanted to stay longer!
