Guests say

The Fold at Hallin Bank is a charming, peaceful cottage set in a stunning and remote location, perfect for those seeking tranquillity and beautiful walks straight from the door. Guests praise its cosy, warm atmosphere, characterful features, and breathtaking scenery. While some mention steep stairs, low beams, and occasional issues with supplies or WiFi, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the cottage’s comfort and the unique opportunity to disconnect from daily life. The property is especially recommended for couples, walkers, and dog owners looking for a true countryside escape.

Most guests found the cottage clean, warm, and well-presented, with only a rare mention of towels not smelling fresh. The overall impression is of a tidy and well-kept property.

The location is widely celebrated for its seclusion, stunning views, and direct access to excellent walking routes. Its remoteness is a highlight for most, though guests note the need to bring supplies due to the distance from shops.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with special mention of the beds and log burner. Some note steep stairs and low beams, particularly for taller guests, but these do not detract significantly from overall comfort.

Facilities are generally adequate, with all essentials provided for a comfortable stay. Some guests mention minor issues such as limited firewood, worn utensils, and intermittent WiFi, but these are balanced by positive comments about heating and amenities.

While guests appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and occasional helpfulness of the host, there are mentions of missing basic supplies (e.g., matches, washing up liquid, toilet roll) and no reference to welcome gifts. Please note that gifts are not guaranteed.

Great location for us, lacked a bottle opener though!

I stayed at The Fold for 5 nights. Reading the reviews I took bags of logs. To get there and find there is plenty of logs. WiFi worked for 2 days and for what ever reason it stopped in the welcome book it does say that they are getting WiFi so I took it as its getting installed this is why it went off. It didnt spoil my holiday. You come to a place of natural beauty not to sit on your phone. The views are beautiful plenty of walks from the door step. Will return this year. Im only short but low ceiling on your way to bed and then at the top of the stairs. Few brandys...and I didnt learn. Cosy with peaceful and beautiful views.
