Enjoyed our stay in this well presented cottage. Excellent location with plenty of wildlife to observe. Hope to return in the future.

We had a lovely stay at the Fold. Its very remote and quiet which was exactly what we were after. The scenery outside really is breath-taking. The cottage itself is warm and cosy and very spacious. The steps up to the room are very steep so care needs to be taken on these at all times. We loved relaxing on the chairs and watching TV/DVDs. We did manage to get some wifi which we hadn't expected so that was a bonus. We enjoyed having the log burner however I must say that there were only 4 matches provided, no firelighters and only one log, so not enough for even an evenings fire, but we did manage to get and use our own supplies from the shops. The heaters were definitely adequate enough though, so the fire wasn't essential for heat. The cottage had everything we needed for the 3 nights we stayed, such a little gem of a place and would really recommend to others. Our dogs also had a great time there! In terms of walks/dog friendly walking routes between 1-2 hours we did the following : Aira Force (also great for a rainy day) 1hour loop. Howes Tarn (1.5 hours loop) Buttermere Circular Loop (2hours). Food places : The Secret Garden at Pooley Bridge. The Agricultural in Penrith (we ate here while charging the car) and the drunken duck inn near Ambleside.

Outstanding stay. A bit out of the way of any shops but we knew this before going. Loved the peacefulness. Walked around Ullswater lake. Took us 10.5 hours with a picnic stop a moody teenager and 2 dogs. Overall, would recommend
