Please note: There is an unfenced stream in the grounds and the property has a natural water supply from a spring.. Spring Grove is ideally located at Watermillock, a stone’s throw from Ullswater’s shoreline in the Northern Lake District, privately accessed by its own drive and surrounded by 50 acres of woodland which covers a fell that overlooks Lake Ullswater. With fantastic walks, direct from Spring Grove, allowing you to leave your car behind or stay home to enjoy the garden space where wildlife is often seen, including roe deer, badger, fox, squirrels, buzzards, ravens and regular nesting ducks. Adjoining the discreet owners’ properties, you also have access to its own lake shore frontage just across the road, offering private fishing and the possibility of launching small craft such as a windsurfer, canoe or rubber dinghy. Windsurfing, rowing and motorboat hire, sailing, golf, pony trekking and steamer cruises are all available locally. The main shopping areas are in Penrith, 7 miles, and Pooley Bridge for local pubs and cafes is just 1½ miles away and with a restaurant within walking distance.

I have not given full marks only because we had a lot of wasps more dead than alive in the living room and dining/kitchen room but there was no note left in the cottage to let us know there was a problem only fly/wasp spray on table for our use but I knew before we went because I read the reviews and it mentioned they had a wasp nest I was hoping it was sorted..We stayed there for a week, but in the whole it didn’t spoil our time here, we have stayed a few times in the cottage. We still enjoyed our time in Watermillock, the property surrounding is stunning with seating area if you sit there first thing on the morning you might see cows, pheasants maybe a deer in the attached field to the property, plenty of things to do in the area, the weather was not too bad, the reviews did mention about the knives being blunt they were right. Just need to get new ones. So overall a good stay. We would definitely stay here again. Catherine, Sara&Adrian

Lovely cottage but not one we could do walks from Lights over the bed are a bit dodgyHopefully the wasps will have been cleared soon

Brilliant location, just enough out of Pooley Bridge to be quiet, but close enough to lots of sights and walks and amenities to always have things to do. The cottage is bigger than it appears in the images. Shame the log burner is no longer usable (not that we needed it). You take the gamble on neighbours as the sound from the attached cottage travels, so if you have a noisy bunch you will hear them. Otherwise a brilliant little base to explore Ullswater.
