Guests say

Mill Barn receives glowing praise for its idyllic riverside setting, abundant wildlife, and welcoming hosts. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and comfort of the cottage, with many enjoying easy access to local walks, pubs, and attractions. The property is described as cosy and well-equipped, perfect for a relaxing break. While a few mention minor issues such as tight parking, a small bed, or the bathroom being downstairs, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews describe the property as 'immaculate', 'spotlessly clean', and 'very clean', with no significant complaints about cleanliness. Only positive remarks are made, indicating a consistently high standard.

The location is repeatedly described as 'idyllic', 'beautiful', and 'perfect' for exploring the Lake District, with riverside views and easy access to walks and local amenities. Only a minor mention of tight parking slightly tempers an otherwise outstanding location.

Guests frequently mention the cottage is 'cosy', 'comfortable', and 'warm', with electric blankets and good heating. A few note the bed is a double and the bedroom is small, but these are minor points in otherwise very positive feedback.

The cottage is praised for being well-equipped, with a modern kitchen and bathroom, good Wi-Fi, and everything needed for a short stay. Some mention the bathroom is downstairs and the bed could be larger, but overall facilities are highly rated.

Hosts are repeatedly described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful, often going above and beyond for guests. Some mention thoughtful gestures such as being shown around or invited for drinks, but please note that such gifts or extras are not guaranteed.

Had a fantastic time at Mill Barn! Truly special location right on the river with various walking paths on your doorstep. 5 minute walk round the corner to get to Askham Hall where we had a wedding. Very comfortable space with cooking equipment and kept lovely and warm through a cold Spring stay, nice that there were underbed electric blankets available if needed too! Couldn't recommend more for a trip to the lakes

Lovey welcome, great location next to the river Lowther. Red squirrels feeding on our windowsill. Nice and warm. Quirky spiral staircase to the bedroom.

This is our 2nd stay here and we are back at Xmas as well can’t wait the owners are lovely and can’t do enough for you . The best thing this time was the red squirrel 🐿️ they came everyday and wasn’t one bit scared would most definitely recommend . If your looking for a friendly local pub the punch bowl is a great place and can highly recommend the Sunday lunch 👍
