Situated just outside the popular Ambleside town centre in Cumbria lies Rydal Suite, a fantastic ground-floor apartment. Ideal for two couples, this spacious apartment provides all the home comforts you need for a relaxing self-catered stay, no matter the weather. Reached by a long drive, Loughrigg Brow is a magnificent 19th century mansion, formerly the vicarage, set in ten acres of beautiful hillside grounds with security gates at the main entrance
Arriving at the property, the hallway invites you to leave your coats and shoes before making your way into the spacious sitting room. The sitting room boasts grand Victorian windows offering fantastic views of the surrounding forest and over to the mountain range, Fairfield. Make your way to the kitchen/diner to cook up a storm for your family; the kitchen hosts an electric oven and hob, a handy washer/dryer and a dishwasher. Dine as a group at the large dining table or the breakfast bar, there is also a reading chair to admire the views. For an alternative dining arrangement, head outside to the private patio for your meals alfresco, or an evening glass of wine in the last of the summer sun.
Choose from two bedrooms, both fitted with king-size beds and storage for your belongings, One of which with an en-suite bathroom whilst the other has it's own shower room (shower and wash basin) plus access to the Jack-and-Jill cloakroom/toilet.
Ambleside has many restaurants and pubs to choose from, such as Misto for contemporary Italian cuisine, the vegetarian Zeffirellis or the micro brewery Tap Yard or if you can't tear yourself away from your dwelling, pop out to The Crafty Giraffe Food Shack for a delicious takeaway to enjoy in your home-from-home.

History buffs however can enjoy an afternoon at the Armitt Library & Museum Centre, learning all things Lake District, and the Ambleside Roman Fort, which dates back to the second century! Also in the area is the National Trust's Wray Castle, where you can wander the grounds of this Neo-gothic 1800s castle, and the The World of Beatrix Potter known for being a favourite among Peter Rabbit fans and literature lovers. Copious amounts of hot water, good view and proximity of the property to Ambleside without actually being in it are all great plusses.

Very peaceful with deer in the grounds. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. 2 issues. We did not have the code to get into the main building and there was no recycling so took it home.

The grounds immediately outside the front door are lovely and a great space with views across to Windermere. I saw deer in the lower field at dusk and heard an owl too. However, we did have issues with the t.v.âs of which there are 4. The smart t.v. In the lounge was a bit hit and miss and we couldnât get further than channel 5; we couldnât get basic channels on the kitchen t.v.; couldnât get anything on the small bedroom t.v. - just broken picture. While the apartment had just about everything one required a proper toilet roll holder and small pedal bin in the en suite bathrooms would have been appreciated. Because of the weather (rained a lot and was cold although both the heating and fires were a bonus) we were unable to make use of the patio and garden area but the steps looked very precarious from the patio doors and those down to the lawned area (we are seniors - so maybe younger people would cope). Never the less we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Rydal and would recommend it.
