Set within the breath-taking landscape of Cumbria, at the heart of Troutbeck Village, Longmire Yeat Cottage parts of which date back to the 17th century is a pretty and traditional dwelling boasting panoramic views of the encompassing countryside.

Exuding character and charm through many original features such as striking exposed beams, this former Quaker meeting house provides an idyllic spot from which to enjoy some good fell walking on a family retreat to the Lake District.

Step inside this restful abode and be welcomed into a well-designed utility, perfect for storing your mud-splattered wellies before continuing through the property. Rustle up a tasty bite to eat in the well-equipped country kitchen, home to a wide range of appliances and good selection of utensils, as well as a beautiful dining table where you can indulge in an abundance of mouth-watering meals throughout your stay.

Take the steep wood staircase up to the first-floor and discover an inviting sitting room with a charming woodburning stove and impressive flat-screen Smart TV, hosting the favourite channels, Netflix, Amazon and more to watch, a fabulous space to rest and recuperate with your loved ones following a fun-filled day on the lakes.

Two small steps will lead you down to a homely bedroom featuring a spacious super-king-size bed which can be transformed into twins upon request, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for guests. This bedroom also boasts a handy dressing room where you can take your time to get ready for the day ahead, as well as leading on to an additional bedroom with a quaint child’s bed, ideal for those travelling with young families. A light and contemporary bathroom with a large p-shaped bath and overhead shower can be found resting across the way, whilst back in the sitting room a small set of steps will lead you up to the third and final bedroom decorated with sloping ceilings and quirky furnishings, as well as a roomy double bed.

There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
