Landower House in Ambleside is highly praised for its luxurious finish, comfortable beds, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, including a kitchen and en-suite bathrooms. The outdoor space and proximity to local amenities add to the positive experience, although minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements are noted.
Most guests found the property clean and well-maintained, though a few noted areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as the fridge and bathrooms. The presence of ants outside and some leftover signs of previous guests were mentioned.
The location is consistently lauded for its convenience, with easy access to Ambleside's town centre, shops, pubs, and country walks. The quiet setting and parking availability are also appreciated.
Guests rave about the comfortable beds and the property's overall comfort. However, there are several mentions of dining chairs being too low for the table, which affected the comfort of dining.
The property's facilities are generally seen as high-spec and comprehensive. Criticisms include complex electrics, heating issues, and the need for better instructions. Some guests encountered non-working towel rails and suggested the addition of fans during hot weather.
The welcome card and box of goodies were well-received, indicating thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are a kind gesture and may not be a consistent offering for every stay.

Landower is a short walk from the centre of Ambleside. Ambleside village is located on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. The surrounding scenery of Lakeland Fells is dramatic and lends a stunning backdrop to the Lakeland stone buildings and attractive streets of the village. One of the Lake District's most sophisticated communities, Ambleside village is alive with interesting local businesses, shops and acclaimed Lake District restaurants and pubs. There are 2 cinemas and a jazz bar, and lots of cafes and delis to enjoy. You're in the heart of the Lakes here, and the scenic A591 can take you north to Grasmere and Keswick, or south to Windermere & Kendal. Stunning mountain walks and bike rides aplenty from your front door.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

It's very spacious for our family of 9 (this includes a baby). There were a couple of maintenance issues needing reviewed while we were there - an en-suite extractor fan not working & lighting in the same bedroom not working. The open plan living space is beautiful with a large amount of glazing but consequently creates an absolute oven during this very hot weather, so fans would have been much appreciated. The instructions for the house could be improved as we still have no idea how the heating operated - it came on despite 22°C weather. Overall a fabulous place and just those tiny bits need addressed to bring it up to the highest of standards.

Lovely modern property with perfect layout and nice views. Situated off main road but quiet and peaceful. Very well furnished with high spec furniture and equipped with every utensil needed available. Great outdoor space for relaxtion and a vino or two (south facing). Welcome pack very much appreciated. Enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recomend this property for a relaxing break.
