Park up off-road and travel through the front garden, complete with pretty planters and a lawned area, before stepping indoors, storing your muddy boots and coats in the hallway. Be welcomed into the light-flooded sitting room, where you can unwind on the plush sofas, light the woodburning stove, and flick on the Smart TV, ready to cosy up after a day of travelling.

Poor maintenance so front door very difficult to open and close. Shower broke. Heating controlled remotely by owners. Itâs a very cold house. Plus points easy access parking area, quiet street, easy to walk to centre of Ambleside. Owners immediately contactable and responsive.

Everything about the house was so well thought through and you had struck just the right balance between having every modern convenience and keeping the house authentic to its time. We don't have any complaints but we would have liked a visitors' book as these are a great source for finding places to go , things to do and places to eat. You did leave booklets but these aren't as good as people's direct experience. However, we found that the house really enhanced our holiday.
