About this property

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life when you stay at this rural cottage steeped in history. Surrounded by luscious green fields, farmland and valleys, this secluded property has reportedly homed Beatrix Potter on many occasions. Your group of up to six people can spend your days exploring the myriad of pretty walking trails and footpaths from the doorstep. The shore of Lake Windermere is nearby and from here you can wander through stunning woodlands or even dip your toes into the water for a paddle.

Exposed beams, traditional features and deep set windows will welcome you as you move from room to room in this charming cottage. At the heart of this property is a cosy lounge with comfortable seating and a wood burner. Watch the flames crackle as you sink into the sofa and catch up with your loved ones. When your tummy begins to rumble, head into the well-equipped kitchen/diner to plate up some snacks for your group. Dig into your nibbles at the large farmhouse table or step outside to the gravelled terrace and eat alfresco-style while enjoying the breathtaking views across Blelham Tarn to the mountains beyond. This outdoor area really offers visitors the ‘wow’ factor, especially on a sunny day. When it’s time for bed you will find three lovely bedrooms: one king-size bed, one king-size zip-and-link bed and one twin.

Spend an afternoon rambling across the grounds of the National Trust’s Wray Castle, which is only 1.5 miles from the cottage. At this attraction there are a number of low-level walks through the parkland and views of Lake Windermere. The village of Hawkshead is less than 2 miles from the property and the small town of Ambleside can be reached in 4.5 miles.
