Across the road is the National Trust’s Beatrix Potter Gallery, housing original drawings by the children’s author, or visit William Wordsworth’s school, The Old Grammar School. Head 2 miles to the picturesque Tarn Hows nature reserve and lakes where you can enjoy peaceful walks or challenging climbs. 1 mile south of the property is Esthwaite Water, great for fishing. Alternatively head to Lake Windermere (4 miles) where you can hire a boat, try out kayaking or take a waterside walk. The bustling town of Ambleside is 5.5 miles away with a large selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.
