Yew Tree Farm is a well-received cottage praised for its comfortable amenities, peaceful surroundings, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped space, lovely garden, and the convenience of a nearby café. The property is also pet-friendly with an enclosed garden, and it serves as a good base for exploring the Lake District.
The property is generally regarded as very clean. However, one mention of pet hair suggests room for improvement, particularly for guests with allergies.
The location is highly valued for its peaceful setting and easy access to main roads and local attractions, making it an excellent base for exploration.
The cottage is considered comfortable, with a special mention of a walk-in shower for those with limited mobility. Some guests suggested that additional storage in bedrooms and more comfortable sofas would enhance the comfort level.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and ample parking. However, initial coldness upon arrival and limited food storage space indicate some areas for maintenance improvement.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

The cottage has a large gravelled yard area providing ample parking, as well as a place for children and dogs to play. The cottage is all open plan, offering a large living/dining/kitchen area with seating for six. The living area is well-furnished with an open fire and easy seating to relax and enjoy quality time together. The space also comprises a dining area with a table generously seating six, and a well-equipped kitchen complete with a range cooker. Past the kitchen along the hallway are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Further along the ‘L’ shaped building is a third bedroom with twin beds, a shower room and a large utility room – perfect for washing those mucky paws and leaving your boots and walking gear.
Bypassed from the A590, the tiny hamlet of Low Newton lies just inside the Lake District National Park. Its peaceful setting beneath the fells of South Lakeland provides the perfect base from which to explore the Lakes and the Cumbrian coast. Low Newton is also well served for good local places to eat and drink. Within walking distance at High Newton is Heft, a gastropub, opened in 2022, that has already earned national recognition, while a mile away is the friendly Royal Oak in Lindale. Three miles away is the village of Cartmel, the foodie capital of the South Lakes, famous for its sticky toffee pudding and the renowned Michelin three-starred restaurant L’Enclume. Also three miles away is Grange-over-Sands, a charming and genteel Victorian seaside town with a range of shops amply meeting the needs of any holidaymaker.
Nearest beach is 12 miles, shops 3 miles, restaurant and pub ½ mile.
Due to the layout of the property, access to the twin bedroom and the shower room are via a bedroom. However the property does have a second external entrance to avoid the need of going through the bedroom.
Owner will accept a maximum of 4 adults an 2 children not 6 adults.
Please note that although the house is all on one level it is NOT configured for wheelchair use.
Only dogs allowed at the property.
Suitable for up to 1 pet

Apart from fridges, there was no space to store food. The house was cold when we arrived as it had not been occupied the previous week and the radiators had been turned down. The weather was cold and it took a couple of days to warm upStorage in the bedrooms was a bit poor with no chests or chairsWe liked the open fire and there were plenty of logs available which was good

A very comfortable and well equipped cottage. As I have limited mobility I appreciated this single story cottage and enjoyed the walk in shower. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings but proved an excellent base taking only a few minutes to reach the main road and easy access to places of our choice.

A delightful cottage in a peaceful setting, warm and welcoming with everything we needed. The garden was lovely, the café next door a real treat, and everyone we met was kind and friendly. A wonderful stay. We’d happily return.Nuno + Tânia
