Curdle Dub is a charming and well-loved Lakeland cottage, praised for its immaculate condition, cosy atmosphere, and prime location for both convenience and scenic walks. Guests appreciate the well-equipped space, characterful features, and the stunning views, making it a desirable stay for repeat visits.
The majority of guests report the cottage as immaculate, indicating high standards of cleanliness. However, one review mentions a significant cleanliness issue, which seems to be an isolated incident but slightly lowers the overall score.
The location is consistently praised for its proximity to shops, walks, and scenic views. Its accessibility to local amenities and natural beauty spots makes it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of cosy beds and a homely atmosphere. One review suggests the beds could be improved, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being described as well-equipped and maintained. There are positive comments about the bike storage and modern amenities like Wi-Fi. A minor issue with TV signal and a desire for a coffee maker are noted.
While guests express gratitude for the cottage's offerings and a laundry box gift from 'lake lovers', there is not enough consistent mention of thoughtful gestures or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gifts are not guaranteed.
Enjoying a peaceful location close to the village of Coniston, Curdle Dub is perfect for those wanting to be close to shops and local pub, yet away from the busier villages of Windermere and Ambleside. This luxury property enjoys views of Coniston Water and Grizedale Forest and offers spectacular scenery, walks, water sports and award- winning brewery at the Black Bull pub.
Curdle Dub has been superbly modernised with the finest furnishings and retaining many of its original features. A charming and welcoming cottage full of character and modern-day comforts. Outside is a lovely sitting area with a path to the entrance porch. The sitting room is beautifully appointed, with beams, window seat and feature fireplace with wood burning stove. A lovely room for unwinding after a busy day on the lake or out walking. The kitchen is modern, light and extremely well-equipped. Here guests will find everything needed to whip up a hearty breakfast or delicious evening meal.
Upstairs are two fantastically comfortable bedrooms, cleverly planned to accommodate two couples or family. The Twin room can be made in to a super king if requested in advance. The house bathroom is modern and has P-shaped bath with shower over. Secure bike storage is available outside the cottage, along with parking for one car in the shared parking bays. Please note that this is a very old property and has steep stairs, a step in the kitchen and uneven floors upstairs.
Coniston and the surrounding area have so much to offer, but if one thing must not be missed it is to cruise the lake onboard its famous Victorian steam yacht gondola.
Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing. The property was very well located for walks and water activities while being in a quiet location. The facilities at the property were great, and simple things like a modern television and good wi-fi (important for an 11 year old to stay in contact with friends while awayâ¦) were greatly appreciated and added to the overall stay. Sounds simple, but so often overlooked. Would come back in a heartbeat, and miss the area already. Thank you.
