Snaptrip says

Millrace Cottage is a well-regarded property in a tranquil and convenient location, offering a cosy and comfortable stay. Guests appreciate the clean environment, underfloor heating, and the proximity to local attractions and amenities. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of kitchen provisions were noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments about specific cleanliness issues. The positive remarks about the property's tidiness suggest a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and convenience, with easy access to Windermere, local pubs, and beautiful views. Its position within a holiday park and proximity to amenities contribute to its appeal.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, particularly noting the underfloor heating and comfortable beds. However, some guests feel that the space may be cramped for larger parties, and the lounge privacy was a concern for a few.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and large patio area. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a problematic washing machine and heating system, which affect the score.

While guests mention the lack of kitchen provisions and welcome gifts, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that while some holiday cottages provide such amenities, they are not guaranteed and can vary.

About this property

"Once part of a thriving bobbin mill, this delightful Lakeland barn conversion is now part of Ings Mill Park – a beautifully landscaped area Ings is a small hamlet near Staveley, 2 miles from Windermere, and 6 miles from Kendal, on the A591. The road is one of the country's most scenic, as well as providing easy access to the highlights of the Lake District. The entrance hallway with cloakroom / 2nd WC, leads to the contemporary oak kitchen / dining room with slate floors and lots of character. The living room has cosy deep-cushioned sofas and a large picture window - originally the barn door. There’s a ground floor single bedroom and modern house bathroom with shower over bath. Upstairs to the king-size double bedroom and twin bedroom. Outside, the private fenced patio is furnished for drinks or meals al-fresco. Nearby Staveley, in walking distance, is the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, with a thriving community of walkers and cyclists as well as a foodie destination: Wilf’s café, Hawkshead Brewery. More? Bakery and lots of other delights including the Eagle & Child, another great pub. Walking routes in the Kentmere Valley are well worth exploring. Shops, facilities, cafes and restaurants are close at hand in Windermere village, and the superb Booths supermarket; and only a few miles further you'll find Bowness and the shores of Lake Windermere. If Millrace Cottage is not available for the dates you require, check out these two neighbouring self-catering properties: Gowan Cottage & Bobbin Cottage. "

Exactly as described. We (5 adults) enjoyed our stay tremendously, in spite of rain and would definitely return.

The village pub, fantastic farm shop & cafe and service station are nearby and the cottage itself is on the fringe of a clean and quiet holiday park by a river. The cottage is warm and clean with comfortable beds and living space. It has all the kitchen essentials for self catering. My only feedback would be layman’s instructions on using the washer / dryer. I was unable to get the drying cycle to work for our swimming towels despite googling the manual. Also maybe a handrail to assist showering in/out of the bath. We had such a wonderful stay, thank you.

Ideal for visiting lots of parts of the Lakes. Site staff were super friendly and helpful. The cottage is clean and compact. The bathroom is lovely and the heated flooring meant that we were all very warm. (The dog was a bit confused!) The lack of any significant cupboards, however does mean you are 'living out of your bag' particularly when you have to pack for all weather for a trip to the Lakes. Only tiny bedside table drawers available. The other thing I would say is pack everything that you are going to need if you are cooking. There is nothing provided at all in the kitchen. I got caught out this time as I forgot to pack salt and pepper/olive oil. Not a problem as there is a garage locally which had everything we needed. But usually holiday cottages have a few bits and pieces to use.
