Whilst staying in Troutbeck you’re ideally located to enjoy the wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and experiences that the Lake District has to offer. For those looking for the ultimate Lake District experience there is Kankku Off Roading Adventures in Windermere, for those wanting to a relaxing break The Low Wood hotel is a short stroll away where you can enjoy beauty treatments and leisure facilities.

Thompson Cottage has been lovingly decorated and equipped to a very high standard by the owners who have paid attention to even the smallest detail making the cottage warm and inviting for a holiday with the family at any time of year. A door leads out on to a patio from the lounge, perfect for enjoying the late evening sun after a day spent exploring the surrounding area.

This is an immaculately clean well equipped cottage situated about half a mile off the main Windermere to ambleside road.There is a very useful downstairs toilet and wet room as well as laundry facilities.There is a small terrace at the rear of the property overlooking a lovely lawned garden which is ideal for children. The only downside for us was the distance from Troutbeck which made it very difficult to enjoy the local restaurants in the evening without using the car.

I stayed in Thompson Cottage with my wife and baby son for a three night stay, and it was a really fantastic experience. The facilities are excellent (with the exception of the lack of free wifi, although there was a nearby BT hotspot available at a cost), with everything finished to a high standard. The expertise of the on-call helpline was first rate. When we couldn't find the power isolation for the cooker, the person on the end of the phone (Tracy) quickly located the layout plans for the house and immediately guided us to switch in question. We would happily stay here again, using it as a base to explore from the Windermere area up to Keswick and Buttermere. The local pubs and restaurants were terrific, not to mention the local Booths supermarket in Windermere where we stocked up for our stay.

We stayed here for a week & had a lovely holiday. Well equipped cottage in fab location about 10mins drive either to Windermere or ambleside. Weather was fab so we made use of lovely garden & had a few bbq's. cottage is kept very clean & has all the mod cons you could need with the bonus of a wet room downstairs which came in extremely handy for my husband who is a keen mountain biker who comes back covered in mud so it saved him trailing through house which was handy. Overall really enjoyed our stay & would recommend this lovely cosy place to anyone!. Only small moan is no wi fi which is a shame as my husband needed it to plan bike routes & would have being a bonus for my daughter to keep her entertained on her tablet, but this would not put me off booking this cottage again.
