About this property

An end-terrace Lakeland stone cottage, just a stone's throw from Windermere village centre and less than two miles from Bowness-on-Windermere in the beautiful Lake District. This is an excellent cottage which is an ideal base for families and friends wishing to tour around the nearby lakes and mountains. This cosy cottage is perfectly presented over four floors with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are also two cloakrooms which provide great flexibility, and two sitting rooms, one of which has an L-shaped sofa. A well-equipped kitchen offers a lovely place to prepare a sumptuous meal which can be enjoyed in the dining room, before adjourning to one of the sitting rooms. Outside there is a private yard where you can relax with a refreshing drink. Being located in the heart of the Lakes, there are endless paths and pretty villages to explore all surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. Cruise up the lake on the Windermere Steamer or visit the Beatrix Potter exhibition, where you can get up close to Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny. For the more adventurous, why not get out onto the lake on kayaks or stand-up paddle boards? Alternatively, hire mountain bikes and cycle round Grizedale Forest. Whenever you visit this popular area you will always be rewarded with stunning scenery!

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

The property is listed as having two bathrooms; it has two full bathrooms, but also two additional toilets - so four altogether. The property also provides dog bowls and hair dryers, though they are not listed in the amenities. The property was spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped with an array of pots, pans, baking tins and dishes, cutting boards, utensils and a cafetiere. The kettle was spotless! A dish towel is provided, but no oven mits/pot holders. This makes it very difficult to get your hot pans out of the oven without burning your fingers. There is an abundance of hand and soap and washing up liquid, but you will need to bring your own body wash/soap. There were towels and bath sheets, which I loved, that are nicely warmed on the large towel warmers in the bathrooms. Sykes is great They check in after your fist night to make sure you have everything you need and are very diligent and responsive. We had a lovely holiday!

The back garden needs attention. There was rubbish left out back from previous tenants. The top floor front bedroom was not cleaned/dusted, there was rubbish from previous tennants between the bed and the bedside table..

Plenty of room for seven people and to have privacy if wanted. All of the bathrooms and toilets extremely clean as of course the rest of the house. Our dog loved the park at the end of the street and we liked the food stores at the other end of the street. Beautiful house and we enjoyed our stay there.
