Penny Bridge is a small, picturesque village located close to the River Leven and Lake District National Park. The idyllic Cumbrian village serves as a tranquil base for exploring an area renowned for its outdoor activities. The Britannina Inn pub provides a place to eat and drink after a day spent admiring the nearby waters and climbing one of the mountains. In the neighbouring village of Greenodd, there are several pubs, a shop, a post office, a bakery, a fish and chip shop, and the excellent Handmade Ice Cream Company. The ancient market town of Ulverston, located in the centre of the Furness peninsula, is also nearby. Its mazelike cobblestone streets are home to a variety of shops, pubs, and leisure facilities, as well as the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Penny Bridge is also in close proximity to Coniston Water and Windermere, where you can cruise on the lakes or explore the surrounding mountains on foot. From here, you can climb The Old Man of Coniston, Scafell Pike, and Claife Heights, among others!
