This pretty semi- detached cottage is a good example of a traditional Lakeland farmhouse dating from the 17th Century and made of local slate. The farm is in the (almost) secret valley of Dale Park which nestles close to Grizedale and Hawkshead and offers peace and tranquility. The cottage has charm and character reminiscent of years gone by. With a large private orchard and open fire this cottage offers excellent value for a family holiday for 4 in beautiful surroundings. The cottage is on a bridlepath with access to Grizedale Forest and surrounding countryside straight from the doorstep.
The entrance leads into the large open plan lounge/kitchen with comfortable seating with 2 leather settees , open fire and flatscreen TV with DVD and Video and CD player. There is a newly updated kitchen at the back of the room with electric cooker, microwave, freezer and dishwasher . There is also a dining table and chairs.
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms. The first is a twin to the rear of the house and the second larger bedroom has a double and excellent views towards the woods. There is a bathroom with bath with shower over, toilet and wc.
Outside there is a large, private orchard with furniture for guests and plenty of space for parking. There is also use of washing machine and secure bike storage in the barn if required

We had a lovely stay in this cottage, perfect for this time of year. We had a lovely welcome from the owners who live next door and let us know where to find everything. We saw them a couple of times after that, it was nice to know they were there but were never intrusive; a lovely couple. The orchard was perfect for our dog to be let out in for a quick run and I can imagine would be lovely in the summer. We loved the open fire and the endless supply of logs. The cottage has a really cosy feeling, it was the perfect size for the three of us and our dog. The open plan makes it inclusive. This cottage is the perfect winter getaway.

The location of this comfortable cottage is wonderful. We have returned again and again. The owners are excellent hosts.

Super place, easy to get to most places that we wanted to visit each day, although down narrow roads, so be aware. Dogs loved it and were able to wander in and out of front dog as we had wonderful weather all week. Everything was supplied that we needed. Not one of those cottages that do not even provide a dish cloth or tea towel. There was tin foil, cling film and even dishwasher tablets. Cottage was lovely and warm and cosy in the evening. Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. In all a special place in a beautiful part of the UK.
