    About this property

Newby Bridge 4.1 miles. Resting peacefully in the hamlet of Crosslands, in the idyllic valley of Rusland, you will find the charming dwelling of Rusland View. Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, this homey abode offers a scenic romantic getaway to the Cumbrian countryside. Step inside the cottage and be greeted by a well-equipped kitchen, home to a range of sleek electrical appliances, all to be used as you show off your culinary skills whilst whipping up a romantic meal for two. Dine by candlelight at the pretty oak table, popping open a perfectly chilled bottle of bubbly and toasting to time well-spent with one another in this beautiful setting. Freshen up in the handy cloakroom before making your way into the warm and welcoming sitting room, where you can spend a quiet night indoors snuggled up on the plush sofa in front of the traditional woodburning stove and eye-catching feature fireplace, whilst scanning through the channels on the Smart TV to find an enthralling blockbuster movie. As you begin to feel yourself tire from an exhilarating day of adventure, carry yourself up the staircase and rest in the spacious double bed located on the first floor. The double bedroom also boasts an en-suite, perfect for catching a quick morning shower before heading back downstairs and delighting in breakfast alfresco at the outdoor seating area. When you can just about tear yourself away from the comfort of the holiday home, delight in a relaxing stroll toward High Dam or explore the wondrous woodland of Grizedale Forest. Cross Lake Windermere to the National Trust owned Fell Foot Park and discover breath-taking landscapes and the enchanting historical landmark of The Old Boathouse along the way. Indulge in a refreshing pint at one of the many charming countryside pubs in the area, whilst tucking into some delicious pub grub and sharing your most memorable moments from the holiday so far. Whilst in the area, take a romantic ride along the Coniston Water with a trip on the National Trust Owned Steam Yacht Gondola or wander the galleries of the historical house of Brantwood, home to captivating art and exciting exhibitions. Take a short drive over to the coast and spend your days basking in the sunshine as you wander along the soft white sands of Morecambe Bay. Make Rusland View the setting of your next rural retreat to the Lake District with your significant other.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally-themed habitats bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents, William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.

" Ideal place for a getaway stay "
    Paul ‐ 1 Aug 2021
" The owners were both really nice and made sure we were comfortable and happy with the cottage. The only thing that would stop me staying here again would be the lack of an enclosed garden for the dogs. Other than that, brilliant cottage and hosts. "

" We spent a couple of days looking for somewhere that had everything we wanted and within our budget so when we are across this one it was put in the 'maybe' category with my only hesitation being the lack of reviews I could find so it felt a bit of a gamble. I needn't have worried though as the cottage was absolutely perfect and even better than we could have hoped. It was quiet, well appointed and with character and charm (as well as being much bigger than the photos suggest). The place was even decorated for Xmas which added to the charm. We were welcomed by the hosts who followed all Covid secure protocols and even had some freshly made shortbread waiting for us in the kitchen. The cottage is a bit out of the way, which was what we were looking for, but easy to find and with ample parking. It was easy enough to get to p,aces ,ike Ambleside and Windermere and close to some fantastic walks that we found in the books in the living room. Me, my partner and the dog had a brilliant time and would 100% book to go back again. Thanks for a perfect stay 10/10. "

"Immaculately presented throughout. Owners on site, very friendly, made sure we were happy with everything. The only sounds we could hear were the birds -and we visited during a very busy bank holiday. Would love to revisit, many thanks"

"A beautiful cottage away from the crowds, it had everything we needed and more. David and Anne were very accommodating and the home-made cakes on arrival were a lovely treat after a long drive. We were so lucky with the weather, the walks in the forests were a great way to escape the heat! Will definitely be back."

"The cottage was comfortable, relaxing and well equipped. Anne and Dave could not have been more friendly and helpful. Looking forward to another return visit!"
    - Joanne, October 2021
"The cottage had everything we could have possibly needed, and the local walks are breathtaking. The homemade cakes, and fresh flowers that welcomed us on arrival were a lovely touch. The owners were brilliant, offering their knowledge of the local area, and were happy to lend us their rucksack, as we forgot to take ours with us ..... again!"
